Why visit Laikipia?
Laikipia is one of my favorite destinations in Kenya. I studied and got my first job here, so it will always be special to me. It offers you a unique chance to disconnect from the world and immerse yourself in breathtaking landscapes and rare wildlife.
Every visit feels like a personal retreat into the wilderness in an exclusive setting without crowds. With open green fields, forests, rivers, and lakes, it’s made for exploring.
While 85% of the population relies on agriculture for their livelihood, tourism also plays a key role in the economy.
The host communities are known for their fascinating culture, vibrant traditions, and warm hospitality. Experience their art of handmade jewelry, traditional dances, and stories passed down through generations. Each interaction is unique and memorable!
Unforgettable wildlife, conservation initiatives, and cultural experiences
The locals represent communities from almost every part of Kenya. Kikuyu, Turkana, Meru, Samburu, and Borana people, alongside the pastoral Mukogodo, Maasai, and Dorobo communities.
Laikipia is also home to almost half of Kenya’s black rhino population and many other endangered species. It’s the second most important site for wild dogs in Africa and is known for its successful conservation efforts.
Perfect any time of the year, safaris without the crowds
Laikipia can be visited throughout the year, though from April to July, it’s wet and green, making the landscape especially beautiful.
It’s unique for its less crowded safaris, where you might be the only vehicle in the conservancy.
Our relationship with the community conservancies makes your experience in Laikipia extra special. We collaborate closely with local businesses and community conservancies to create unique, sustainable, and authentic experiences – good for you and the local communities.
